The other day, as I worked on new projects for my business, I found myself reflecting on how change really shows up in our lives, as business owners.
It’s rarely neat, never simple, and often feels like a storm we’d rather avoid. Creating new offerings or updating systems often brings resistance—not just from clients, customers, coworkers (and even family!) but within ourselves too.
I’ll be honest—I'm in the midst of launching my new client portal, and there have been many moments that I've wanted to stop everything and go back to what we all knew-- simpler times and booking systems 😂 ( I love all of my clients who have weathered this storm with me with such grace! Thank you for your patience!) But I know in the long run, the value will come back to my loyal followers, ten fold.
Let’s be honest—change is hard. It’s disruptive, unpredictable, and filled with moments where you may even question whether it’s worth it. When you’re faced with rapid changes from every direction, it’s tempting to stay where you are, holding onto the familiar, thinking that it’ll be safer.
But here’s the thing: staying still might feel comfortable now, but in the long run, stagnation leads to our demise.
Think about the iPhone—one of the most recognizable products in the world. Apple constantly pushes boundaries, whether it’s through new designs, updated software, or even introducing new charging cables that promise greater efficiency and durability in the long run.
Sure, every time they make a change like this, loyal customers push back, preferring to stick with what they know. But Apple doesn’t let that resistance stop them. They understand that staying comfortable means stagnation.
Progress requires moving beyond what’s familiar, even if it sparks initial frustration.
That’s the lesson right there—getting comfortable with discomfort is the key to growth.
In my work, I’ve seen it time and again: leaders, business owners, and individuals alike—those who succeed are the ones who lean into the discomfort, who understand that the messiness of change is part of the process. They don’t shy away from pushback or challenges. Instead, they take them head-on, knowing that every difficult step brings them closer to something better.
So, the next time you find yourself in the middle of change—whether it’s a shift in your career, a transition in your personal life, or a challenge you weren’t expecting—don’t run from it. Push through. Embrace the discomfort. Because on the other side of that uncertainty is growth, strength, and a version of yourself you wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.
